Delete your data
There are two ways to have SKUmio delete the personal data held about you, and a third step that only disconnects Facebook. Either of the first two removes your data; you do not need both.
1. In the app - takes effect immediately
- Sign in at skumio.com.
- Open the account menu at the top right of any page and choose Account.
- Scroll to Close account at the bottom of that page.
- Type your account's email address in the confirmation field - this is deliberate, so the click cannot be an accident - and press the button.
You are signed out at once and the deletion described below has already happened by the time you are.
2. By email - within 30 days
If you cannot sign in, write to [email protected] from the email address the account is registered with and ask us to delete your data. We do it within 30 days and confirm by reply. If you write from a different address we will have to ask you something that proves the account is yours, because otherwise anyone could delete anyone's account.
3. If you signed in with Facebook
You can also remove SKUmio from your Facebook account: Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites → SKUmio → Remove.
Removing the app on Facebook does not delete the data we already hold. It stops Meta sharing anything further with us, and it stops you signing in that way. To have your data deleted, use step 1 or step 2 above.
What deletion actually does
All of this happens in a single database transaction, so it either all takes effect or none of it does:
- Every monitoring subscription you hold is ended, and collection of data on your behalf stops.
- Your email address is overwritten with a non-deliverable placeholder in the form
closed+<id>@skumio.invalid. - Your sign-in identifier - the one issued by Facebook, Google or the email sign-in - is erased, so the same sign-in cannot bring the account back.
- Your Stripe customer record and any saved payment method are detached from us, and automatic top-up is switched off.
After this there is nothing left that identifies you. The account cannot be reopened; if you come back you get a new one, with a new history.
What we keep, and why
The accounting record of your payments stays - the amounts, the dates and what they were spent on, with no name attached to them. An invoice was issued for each payment, and we are legally obliged to be able to produce those invoices for years. Deleting them to satisfy a deletion request would replace one legal problem with a worse one.
The data collected about the shops you were watching also stays. It describes public product listings on third-party websites, it is not personal data about you, and other customers may be watching the same shops.
